Some of you may remembered that in August I acquired a year-old red tegu that had been starved such that he was only 5 inches snout-to-vent and had metabolic bone disease. One of his front paws was completely curled under, and his other front paw was partially curled under, making it difficult for him to walk. Both the vet and I believed he would probably always be crippled that way. Well, not only has he been eating like a horse and gaining so much weight that he's actually starting to get kind of...um...portly (and I've been cutting back a bit on the mice and turkey portions), but as of this week, his paws uncurled! He's walking on them normally! Other than some missing toes (he lost them to constriction before I got him), he's starting to look like a normal, healthy tegu at last. Now, if I can just get the savage little maniac to calm down a bit...
