Man thats really tough, it would have sucked if i lost my first frogs. Don't think this is your fault or anything. When i lost my imitator i beat myself up over it for like a week.
Good luck with the others and keep froggin

Man, I'm terribly sorry to hear that. I had this happen to a cobalt last year. I purchased a couple and had them housed together in a 10 gallon. Well, one ate like crazy and the other had a noticeably difficult time in eating. It's accuracy was very low and it tried several times to eat the same bug. The other one was growing noticeably while the smaller one didn't gain any size or anything but was eating at best. It went on like this for a couple months and he finally died. These things happen and as time goes on, you get used to it. One the bright side of things, you have that bit of experience under your belt and behind you. Definitely get more frogs and don't let this deter you. Youjust had a problem frog and the others are doing great under your care so you are doing your stuff right! Best of luck with your other frogs and any that you gain in the future!

Im not really beat up over it its an animal (well reptile/amphibial). I figured hed die in a few weeks any ways. Hed eat a fly and call it quits. Or hed get one in his mouth and it would escape and he wouldnt try again. but what sucks its the price for it. I remember some one said a while back how they find it pittifull when some ones puts prices over pet's lifes. I have a to dissagree. Yes it does suck when pet dies, but the price has a big impact too. Speaking of that deer season opened this weekend. I didnt go but i did shot a ground hog in the head Youll love to hate me

I guess ill get 2 more (4 total) new rivers from tincs.com (many people agree new rivers and blue sipilawini are the same morph, different name). ill keep checking around. i have forgoten of all the places that have this morph since i got mine.

thanks

I do agree with you on the price thing. I don't consider my frogs as pets...they are merely fragile animals surviving my care so that I may enjoy them. Blue sip's are rather pricey for tincs and this goes a long way in showing that it's best to start with a less expensive species/morph due to the money lost when and if an animal dies. Here's a good, definitive guid on the morphs and their true names/localities (you may have seen it before) http://www.tropical-experience.nl/tinctorius/mguide.html I'm not a huge tinc fan but my fav's are the cobalts and patricia's with the sip's following behind. I especially like the green sips.

Best of luck!

true, but i feel it was more then likely a situation were the frog wasnt going to fair well for some reason. In that situation regardless of the specie death is probibly inevitable (sp?).

do you know any places where i csan find new rivers/blue sipilawini? I know black jungle, tincs.com, and T&C has them. Who else? i honestly cant remember. I did check the classifieds but they wanted a little bit more then what the going cost is.

AJ,
Sorry to hear about your frog. One of my Yellow Backs is a weak eater also but has been slowly growing over time. Still it's half to a quarter the size of the other two I got at the same time.
I ran into Scott and Jane Brown at the Columbia SC show nice people and they had some nice tinc and auratus morphs. Check them out at underthecanopyfarms.net.
Best of luck with the other two.
Tim

Personally AJ, I think it was just meant to be. These guys sometimes just die without any fault of the keeper. For whatever reason, you're coming out of this one a little more wise.

P.S. Good to hear the others are in good health!

Sorry to hear that, I think everyone that has been in this hobby for very long at all has lost at least one frog. Good luck with the rest.
