Hello! My daughter is very into leopards, and I got her her first (an adult female) from a pet store about 6 weeks ago. She's doing fine, and is housed in a ten gallon.
I've done a trade where I'll be receiving for my daughter a young (under 2 years) colony of 3 females and 1 male. My daughter's very excited about her new pets, and will be the primary caretaker (under mom's watchful eyes), but I want to be certain I set her pets up properly when they get here to give them the best chance of de-stressing from shipment and thriving here.
The females were kept together in a huge tank, and the male separately. I can either keep the females together in a 20 gallon long (less than 1/3 the size enclosure they are used to) or keep them separately in a rack system. Which would be best for them?
Also, I've been told the male has been breeding with them for the past 3 weeks or so. How long is gestation, and what are the particulars about the eggs and incubation? I've breed my dragons and raised babies successfully, so have some basic knowledge, but need to know the needs of leopard geckos in particular. I have bought the books, but know from my dragons that nothing is a substitute for info from experienced folks!
