Ringed Pythons

toddbecker Oct 20, 2003 01:01 PM

I have one quick question about ringed pythons that I am unable to find out from all the information I have found out on the web. They come in both banded and striped but is this a genetic thing or just a random occurance. For example if I breed two adult ringed python that as juveniles showed the banded appearance will all the offspring be banded or will it be a random mixture between the banded and the striped. Thanks for any help, todd

Hi Todd
As far as i´ve understood by breeders of ringeds, it´s is some what genetic... if you pair two banded ringeds together you will get all or mostly banded babies, the clutch can also contain a few abberant babies.... and vice versa if you breed abberant ringeds together you will get mostly abberant babies......
Have a look at my hpage, i´ve written a small caresheet on ringedpythons there....

Thanks for the information. I had found out most of the information from other sources but I was like to read more when it is offered. Thanks for the info about the genetic possibility between the bands and the stripes. Thanks again, Todd
