Feeding a baby Saharan Uromastyx question???

jack7777766 Oct 20, 2003 03:01 PM

Hi All,
This is about my baby saharan who is doing great and as around 2-3 inches.

I had a question though I just saw a post elsewhere, (I also asked the same question there) that said feeding too many greens caused runny stools.
My baby doesnt have any runny stools, but his diet has been comprised of almost only greens, dandelion, mustard, turnip and bok choy.
He doest seem to eat frozen mixed veggies or maybe I just can tell well, I dont want to feed him birdseed since I heard that it might cause impactation specially on such a small baby, I also bought adult bearded dragon pellets and I soak them and give them to him, ive only done this twice and I still dont know if he really likes it.

-So basically hes eating only greens, and I was wondering what else should I feed him. I have bird seed (which I still dont want to feed him), and I can keep giving him more bearded dragon pellets.
-I think he might not be eating the mixed veggies because I chop them and I was wondering if I could just give him the peas whole, and either cut or leave out the rest??
-I also bought and tried to feed him waxworms which is recomended on Doug Dix's site, but he didnt touch them so I want to give him a little more protein and dont know how since he wont eat the waxies, wha can I give him.

And I guess the main question is besides the greens, what else should I feed him and in what amount and how often??

Thanks
Jack

because they contain alot of protein and animal fats, they can be given acationally but i wouldn't recommend it any more than that. if you're trying to get him to gain some weight the try feeding him F/T peas, Doug Dix suggests it and it has worked for me. if he won't eat them right away keep trying.
and also, you should contact the person who sold it to you (i think you said doug did) and let him know whats up if you've had him for more than a week. doug should be back from the show either today or tomorrow. hope this helps.
