lobster roachs

I was wondering how many people use these as a food source. I was thinking about starting to culture them but am not sure if they are a good food source. I have done some research on them and they seem fairly easy to deal with but doesn't the exoskeleton make them hard to eat for dart frogs? Well as always any comments or ideas are welcome
Thanks!!
Jamie

I use these to feed my cham. You would probably only be able to feed the nymphs to the darts because the adults are way too big. That is good though because you will always have breeders. I have a pretty large colony right now and really need to downsize. If you like, I will sell you a enough to start a small quantity for real cheap...email me if you are interested.

The frogs won't get them all and the rest will eat the crap out of your plants and will be impossible to find.

I have a lobster roach colony and tarantulas love them, but they breed very well. So well, in fact, that you need to have a place to put them. They breed well and, oh, they can survive in our little wooden houses very well.

If any get out, you will have an infestation in about 2 months or less. This is one BIG drawback to these.

Fruit flies cannot do much wingless as with their short life span, but lobsters will destroy your house if they get out.

Go for the flies.

I have read that the species of roach that we use as feeders, including lobsters, are a south american species, and the climate differences between here and there are such that the roaches cannot survive long outside of the environment you keep them in....heated and humid. I have not had any problems with roaches in my house, and I know I have lost several over the last few months.

just my thoughts

I've had a lot of Lobsters escape, and they've lived, I found one, very much alive, in a cup of moss I had put up in my storage cupboard, I had closed the lid and put it up there about 4 months beforehand. I got rid of my large herps that ate the adults, so I got rid of the colonys about 6 months ago, and I still am finding some, but I know that they're not breeding. It's pretty unlikely that they'll start a breeding colony in your dart tincs unless you release a lot, and it's a very large tank with a small number of frogs. My Expectata would take roaches from my hand.
