lol, no, dont go with crickets, it doesnt matter about the size. A baby snake like that will gladly take newborn pinkies, live or dead, but usually live until they have gotten use to dead. Try going to the pet store and asking for day old pinkies. Oh yea, i doubt Kingsnakes like insects

You wont get him to eat crickets. Kingsnakes are programmed to eat lizards, snakes, rodents.. not insects. I would go with pinkies. A good herp shop should be able to get you newborn or day old pinks. Many of my snakes are refusing to eat right now due to the time of year. Some won't eat till spring, others just slow down and eat less fequently. My mexicana yearlings are still eating though, so you may have good luck. There are lots of posts on this site, by people panicking about their snake that won't eat. You never see posts by people that say their snake starved to death! Be patient if he wont eat, he will eventually. Greg

I have 6 four-month-old mex-mex's now. We got the picky eaters to eat pinkies that were "split-headed", I've also heard it called two-headed. Basically, take a pinkie and puncture it's head so the brain is exposed, or you can cut the pinkie vertically through the head. Mine gobbled 'em down. Anoles also work when cut into small pieces. Good luck.
