someone that sells toads. I've still got some in stock for my eastern female, but I'm going to run out before long, and I can't find anyplace that sells them. Any info would be great, thanks.

Nobody sells toads like they sell mice. Which is why you should switch the snake to mice so that you have a never-ending supply of food and you're not ripping animals out of the wild to feed your pet. Search the rest of the forum, as this has been discussed many times.

Looks like this may start into one of those toads vs. mice debates.
I agree with switching to mice. Since I live in Southern California I have no choice.
When I was a kid in Houston we had an unlimited amount of toads, but over the years it is clear that they are dwindling.

Haha. I agree. A question too...Saying you grew up in Houston and your name being surfrat...Did you surf growing up?

So, did all three of us grow up in Houston alternating free time between herping and surfing? I used to cut it up with a lightweight John Fox board that had a picture of Jesus on the fin. Of course, these days the extra pounds I've added are better for snake keeping, but I would definitely get back in the water if I could get a hold of one of those long boards like my dad used to use back in the 60's.
I had a short board myself up until recently... we used to ride the tiny little waves in Port Aransas (sp?). I finally got rid of it a couple years ago. Good times.
Surfing and herps are definitely a fun combo.

I started on the Netsurfing.com forum and caused all kinda hell with my old friends who did not know it was me. I had threats after me. LOL. MY name on that forum was "realwaveripper"
It got really out of hand. This summer when I was surfing octagonhouse (former octagonhouse) I was really cautious. I couldn't hide much since my car has California plates that read RLWVRPR. Noone messed with me. There were just some good ol texas boys. No localism. no nothing, just a good time in an old place.

Yes I did. I used to visit the Surfhouse off of Ella. I surfed All over Galveston, Surfside, the Octagonhouse, the pier, A holes, and Matagorda all the way down to South Padre.
Moved out to California for more surfing and even though I think there are less herps here, I feel like there are more people interested in reptiles in California.

Nice. I am always down at surfside and quintana. If there are waves I surf. No waves=better fishing and more herping. We got a 21 inch red and an 18 inch flounder today.

I've always thought that quintana was overrated for surfing. However, if you drive up the coast from Quintana for about 30-45 minutes, I know a great spot for rattlesnakes!
Quintana is good on some days...some days it's a little calmer and doesn't get chopped up as much. I really driving down to surf bob hall. Andy

I used to do alot of fishing there. I had a 16 foor Hydrasport skiff named "Speckaholic". I fished all over, Surfside Jetty, the Car Bodies, Cold Pass, West Bay, Bird Island, Trinity and East and West Galveston, Matagorda bays, and all of Port O'Connor.
I was in the Gulf Coast Troutmasters (amatuer) for awhile. When given the opportunity to become a fishing guide I passed because I don't have the patients for people who don't know how to fish. LOL. My old roomate, Reuben, ended up becoming a guide in Port O connors, El Pescador Lodge. He's actually in that new tournament going on called the Redfish Finals (or something to have to do with redfish).
When I moved to California in 99, I really missed wading around and throwing tails or topwaters at reds and specks. Last year we started rainbow trout fishing and this year I started some serious saltwater. Now I can't turn back. Tuna Fishing is the thing now. Love it.
sorry this is sooooo long.

Today,I got a 21 inch slot red and like 4 16 inchers. My friend got a couple more 15-16 inchers and a 15 inch flounder. Got some nice blue crabs too. We had a nice feast goin' lol. Next weekend we are wading for sharks. If you have never waded for sharks you are missing out. Swim or paddle out on a longboard to the third, rip the head off a live mullet, hook it onto a surf rod, swim out to the 4th sandbar and cast. Then swim back and wait. My first shark I hooked literally pulled me before snapping the line with its tail. It is a lot of fun. Next time you are coming down, shoot me an email. Andy
