also, i see in caresheets that tanks arent very good for them because the lids are mesh and it would get too cold in there and it would be hard to do the humidity levels right, they said to use a 28qt rubbermaid container, what do you guys use?

Well prices vary. Wild caught specimens are usually under $100. Good quality Captive breed are usually above $100. At present moment LLLreptile is selling Crocodile Skinks Tribolonotus gracilis for $59.99, but they usually have tribbies that are WC imports. LLLreptile calls them Red eyed Armored Skinks. But i recommend getting a CB if you are a beginner of reptile, since a lot of people end up w/ dead WC imported tribbies after a few weeks in captivity. I'm one of the lucky ones since my imports haven't died or gotten sick in captivity. Also CB tribbes can be handled more then WC with out getting to stressed out. I keep mine in tanks w/ no problem. It may be best to use a fish tank cover to keep humidity in, but I've done both ways. I kept them in 10 gallon tanks that consist of the basic. I used dried soil in the tank. A dish big enough for them to submerge themselves. A shoebox with moist coconut bedding and/or peat moist. Now make sure it stays moist. Also have a food dish. I have a food dish in there shoe box since they seem to eat much quicker this way. Just make sure that the food can't escape the dish since its so close to them. They eat mealworms more readily the other food items. Also have a UV light over the cage. Now that was the basic cage setup that worked really good for me. And I have WC and CB Tribbes. I also have a natural cage too, but it a lot of maintence because wet setups can get grain mites which thrive in soil based substrate if kept really wet. These mites don't cause much trouble in small colonies, but can become a problem if the colonies get big. For more information her us a great site opn tribbes: http://www.tribolonotus.bravepages.com/
Also I an currently making a website dedicated to Crocodile skinks Tribolonotus gracilis: http://mikesreptiles.4t.com
My site should be up and running in a couple of weeks. Good Luck
