Do I Have A Problem W/ My Young Cresteds? more

OneTwoManyHerps Oct 20, 2003 04:59 PM

My young cresteds I picked up at the NARBC Chicago show, don't seem interested in the peach baby food I place inside there setups every-other day. Does anyone know what this could be from? They are eating crickets just fine but don't really care for baby food. Also their temps and humidity is perfect and I bought them from a very reputable breeder. Any posts would be appreciated.

If they are eating crickets regularly (which is normal for hatchlings) I would not even bother with the baby food. Crested geckos grow quickly and they need the extra protein.
As they get older they will gradually accept fruit more. So just keep trying it every once in awhile and with a different flavor. Some will prob recommend the CGD, but I don’t think he will take that if he is not eating reg fruit. I also would not use it as a staple for hatchlings, but that’s me. Anyway like I said don’t worry about it and just keep up with what your doing .

I have the same "problem". What I do is always have baby food - just a little bit - in the cage. Often they dont eat it..sometimes they take a nibble. Also - it gives the cricket something to eat if it wants it...

On thing to do - and I know this sounds strange (learned it from chameleons to trick em)...put your baby food in there - more than they will eat. drop you crickets in it. When they go for the cricket - they are aggressive enough that they have to eat some baby food as well.

It works for me so far..and the more I do it..the more they are going to their baby food to eat it (when no crickets are in the cages).

hope that helps.
