Help me PLEASE!!!!! :'(

RalphSnakeMan Oct 20, 2003 05:06 PM

Please help fast!!!!!

I had 4 baby beardies hatch out yesterday and they are all doing fine, however one egg didn't hatch and a green fluid was beginning to settle on the top of the egg, so i figured the baby couldn't get out for some reason and I decided to intervein, i cut the egg open very carfully using a razor blade, and was able to get the baby out, upon inspection i noticed that the yolk was still attached but had been pulled off during removal, the umbilical cord or whatever the term is is still attached to the baby stomach, he is breathing but barley, is there anything I can do????

Please help :'(

Thank you,
Ralph

He is cold to the touch, but he is still moving when i touch him, should i try and warm him up, or should I leave him be? Currently I have a heat lamp on him, what should i do?

keep him on moist papertowels to keep whatever is hanging out from drying up. i would get the little one to the vet, i dont know what his chances are but a good herp vet should improve those chances. let us know how you make out. unfortunatly it is best to not intervien, those that dont hatch out on their own usually are better off left to have mothernature take care of them. i am not a breeder so this is the best information i can provide, i hope someone else can help you further.

Reiko,

Thank you for the response, I put him on moist paper towels, unfortunately there are no herp vets that i know of in my area, so I am on my own...

Anything is greatly appreciated at this point.

a "string like piece" hanging from them. It looks like it has a little blood or veins in it right?!?!
Usually this dries up and falls off within a day or two. Just keep the baby warm and try not to disturb it too much. Keep it well hydrated.

Good luck

Ahhh, GOOD NEWS!!!!! Yes it appeared to have some blood or veins attached, hopefully this will dry up, how do you recommend I keep him hydrated besides changing the moist paper towels every now and then? Should I spray him like I was told to do to the others??

Thanks!

Yes, just mist him like you would the others or you could use a dropper and drop a few drops on his nose every now and then....
