...since he is the only one still awake tonight LOL. I went with an overhanging, windswept rocky crag this time, so Ghost could strike a majestic pose when the mood stuck. This one has a rather large cave available for groups or meetings; Ghost didn't get his reservation called in before the sell-out. Sorry!

Love them, that one is So dang realistic looking. Gee start a small biz, I will be a loyal customer, LOL NICE !!! Eve
I'm sorry...what were we talking about? Oh yea. Your rocks look great. If mine don't pan out, I'll have to contact you about your methods...I just purchased some nice material to serve as a matt for the underlayment to adhere too...it is very similar to the Ezy matt as can be seen on the ezyrock.com site. Cool stuff. I want my fake rocks to look like the ones here in S. Illinois with moss and lichens on them...actually they are similar to this in a lot of places...Here is one of my creations...

Note how realistic I can get with just a dash of filter sand and green paint. The greenery and yellow flowers are fake too. Pretty good eh? I would sell it, but I forgot it in Oklahoma LOL. OK, Ok it is real...tried to pull a fast one. This is what I will strive for...the collareds loved these types of rocks.

a "lion king" pose,i loved that film when it came out, only thing is i dont know where you can get a rafiki to lift ghost(maybe fluffernutter eh eve?)lol, nice work
i really like that..... but i still want to know exactly how you are making them..
Is that a fake rock? What's it made of and how does it hold up to a heat lamp?
...its a big styrofoam cake with "wall and floor" sanded thin-set grout for the icing, colored with mortar dye (2 parts terra-cotta to 1 part buff). The layer of grout is hopefully 1/4 to 3/8's inch thich, it should hold up pretty well being a masonary product and all. I hot-glued up layers of 3/4" closed-cell insulation-type styrofoam, sort of stair-stepping it to generate the curves, and then sanded & rasped it to the shape I wanted (OK, I cheated, I have a huge belt sander and dies grinders LOL). Takes about an hour to make one, and they set up enough to "install" in 24 hours.

thanx for the details, im going to make oracle a few
and for my toads im going to make a cave, i though about trying a waterfall, as the one i bought got broke, but i still have the pump to the water fall, i even have the broke waterfall..... i might could grout it back together.
be certain you test the product first...you will need some type of sealing agent. This agent could be potentially toxic when it reacts with any dechlorinating type of products. I had a friend that made a water feature...he used some vinyl chloride/cement product on the water path...when he added the water, it started foaming very baddling and killed all the fish...even after several rinses, he had a terrible time removing the unknown chemical...
