hey im no expert here but what would posses you to keep a bearded dragon in a rubbermaid container. thats something to use when you're cleaning its tank or somethin. if u like your bearded dragon and im sure you do, then give it some decent home to live in. im not saying that its unsafe im just recognizing how unattractive it looks. reptariums arent expensive to use and i would think that ur beardie would love it alot more.

have a nice day

large rubbermaid tubs are perfectly fine. If you have proper lighting and heat. In fact many large and small scale breeders use them for raising dragons and for adults. If you have the proper heat and florecent lighting then its fine. Glass aquariums which are the most popular homes for beardies can be stress full on them. They can see their reflection, and whats going on in a room. Some more timid ddragons are very intimidated by this. So a sutible home with no glass sides would be best. I actually have 2 dragons that will absolutly not eat a thing in a glass aqarium. Just my opinions. Sorry if it isnt quite what everyone else thinks but again just my opionions. Have a good one.

I couldn't agree more with you Nathan. I think the aquariums are mainly for owners, so that they look nice in a room. That is fine and works for them. I know a couple of people (not on this forum, of course -- they don't care for their animals enough to try and get the latest information) who have these gorgeous, elaborate displays for their exotic pets, but the animals are just that -- display. The aesthetics of an enclosure really don't matter that much, IMO. Whatever works for each owner and each animal is what's best.

spike is actually very happy in his rubbermaid tub.. i take great pride in how i modify them to suit my animals needs.. lots and lots of people keep their animals in rubbermaid tubs.. i have mostly glass tanks and only 4 rubbermaid bins, currently in use.. and i also have a reptaruim.. i don't like it and i don't use it.. it just sits in the closet...it may look unattractive.. but i am the only one that sees it and i like blue..... i had spike in a glass tank for a couple of years with no problems.. but i have since rearranged and he is very territorial and when he saw a water dragon or a leopard gecko or any other animal in his site he would go wild and stress out..believe me he is much happier in the big ugly tub..also i am home most of the day and he isn't in it that often..and i feel sadden by the fact that after a decade of caring for reptiles time and time again i am having to defend myself over silly matters ..it may only be a 15 dollar tub but after half a days work with modifying it and making them a sand box , vent holes on the side...etc..etc.. it is worth a lot more to me and my herps.

Hehe, I recently bought the exact same type of tub for my two rats. However, I don't think I would like to have my dragons in one as I would like to SEE it without having to take off the lid etc. Actually what I would suggest is making a wire mesh cover using wood or PVC pipe to sit onto of the tub, maybe with a 4" board to mount your lights too, this way you can at least see your dragons without having to lift off the entire lid, most likely blinding yourself in the process (as the florecent bulbs tilt towards you).

I keep my rat cage lid off all the time, for better air flow and I can watch them play without interrupting them.

ohh i can see in.. this was an old rubbermaid tub i made for joeyp's wd i adopted until i could finish the new cage...thats why i mounted the uvb tube on the inside..to keep half of the lid covered for good humidity control.. i just haven't finish cutting the lid off and making it entirely of screen.. i also make vent holes along the bottom for good air flow.. i also have made mice bins.. they work soo nice because the top locks shut and i have two mice (thelma and Louise) that would always find a way to get out of the old cage..they would look soo guilty too when i found them playing together in my closet or on top of the screen wondering how to get down...i should have taken pics of the baby bins..they have nice riveted screen tops.. i just cut out the middle of the lid ad rivet on the screen.. no fun no muss. and it looks like its supposed to be that way..
