What does a normal shed look like?

JonV Oct 20, 2003 08:03 PM

Hi everyone, can someone describe what the ideal shed looks like so that some of us newbies know what to look out for in case of problems? I have noticed that my B&W's tail will turn opaque white and then he will shed some days later. Is this normal? Other's have said the tail is the last to go, but for me it seems to be the primary indicator of an oncoming shed, and I think is the first to go.

Seems like the shed on Tegus is all different, mine sheds the scales on her head one at a time over a few days, then sheds her whole body in about an hour, and her tail sheds several days later.

as long as your tegu is shedding then you should not have to worry about which parts shed first. all tegus are different.
