Exporting reptiles.. USDA Inspection/ Health certificates????

MarcoCabrera Oct 20, 2003 11:56 PM

I am exporting reptiles out of the USA to Mexico..

I have the US FWS CITES Export permit, the Mexican Import permits. Now they are telling me that I need a USDA inspection.. and health certificates??

Anyone know who or how to get these?

Thanks

Ask your vet. Most vets have the USDA forms in their office.

I import and export all the time. The USDA does not inspect nor govern reptile shipments for import or export. They only deal with the shipments of Warm blooded animals. The only inspection you will need is the USFW inspection, you will need your CITES re-Export documents, Mexico import paperwork, USFW form 3177, US Customs export document, invoice showing the value of the animals being exported for customs, Broker to handle the shipment, and in most cases a Vet certificate of health for the animals (which can be accomplished by any vet), and you will need your AIRBILL from the Airlines (if using Airlines).

Mexico officials are requesting that the health certificates be endorsed by the correspoding federal authority, in this case its the USDA Veterinary Services.

Have you exported to Mexico? Can you recommend a broker?

Thanks
