Rust Started to form, Toxic?

DKiM128 Oct 21, 2003 12:07 AM

I made a false bottom tank out of egg crates and mesh canvas, and used some floral wire to wrap it around. And as I notice, the floral wire started to show rust, and rust stain are left on my egg crate, is this dangerous to the water? What should I do, The only way to get rid of it would be builidng my false bottom all over again. And everything is silicon down so its oging to be hard, anythign I can do?

Thanks in advance

Try using fishing line or nylon tread to secure them.

Rust is very bad - get rid of that wire ASAP. I use nylon wire ties and drill holes through the PVC pipe to attach it to the light panel and mesh, - I am too clumsy for silicone and hate when a leg falls off in mid-construction. The wire ties work great and make the panels easy to remove if you have to. I can post a picture if you would like.
