Have you seen this on your eggs before?

xelda Oct 21, 2003 12:34 AM

There are some dark spots on my eggs. I don't know what it is, but it looks like there's something dark inside and these spots are areas where the shell is thin. I check my eggs often, so this is something I just noticed several days ago. Are they going to hatch soon, or does it look like something's wrong?

It's really only apparent on one egg (the longer one), which is the one I've got pictured. The other one has a little bit of it, but not as obvious. This is my first clutch, starting day 59 at about 80-82 degrees. The shells are still very firm and there's no sign or smell of molding or denting.

Hi

Click into Albey's "Too Cool Reptiles" site from the few that are listed just above and then scroll down a little and he has a page you can click on called "How To Incubate" and he has some pictures of incubating eggs there that I think will help you with your question.

Take Care, TLB

it should be fine...make sure you dont flip the eggs over from the position they were laid in...
how come in your sig it says 3 eggs? normally they have clutchs of 2...never heard of 3 eggs in 1 clutch.

She probably has 2 clutches. One of 1 egg, and 1 of 2.

Well sit right down my wicked son
And let me tell you a story
About the boy who fell from glory
And how he was a wicked son

This ain't no holiday
But it always turns out this way
Here I am with my hand

He took his sister from his head
And then painted her on the sheets
And then rolled her up in grass and trees
And they kissed 'till they were dead

This ain't no holiday
But it always turns out this way
Here I am, with my hand

Well sit right down my evil son
And let me tell you a story
About the boy who fell from glory
And how he was a wicked son

Sometimes just before an egg hatches the egg will swell and parts of the shell will get translucent or thin looking.

They do look pretty swollen. No signs of sweat yet. I've got their setups prepared in a quiet room that's been set aside as the Baby Leo Room. :D

Hey
Mine usually looked like that also, I thought there was something wrong then it started happening quite frequently afer 40 days usually. It sorta resembles wet spots like water spilled on white printing paper as an example.
