Hi

Yes, he doesn't look good, his tail is to skinny and you can see his back bone.

Yes, his tail should be fat and you shouldn't be able to see his back bone.

It was kind of hard to tell from the tank picture what kind of substrate you are using. Do you have more than the dome light for a heat source?.

If he's eating but losing weight, then he's probably got a problem with parasites. You're going to have to bring his poop to the vet for a fecal sample. No need to bring your leo in for a visit, just the poop, get it before it's dried, seal it up in a Ziploc bag and refrigerate it. Get it tested to find out what kind of parasites there are. Once you find out what it is, it's easy to know what kind of medicine to give your leo.

Parasites are a real pain in the butt, but as long as he's eating, he's got a good shot at a recovery, provided that your vet doesn't prescribe the wrong medicine (like Ivermectin). A fecal can cost anywhere from $20-$40, with the medicine being an extra $10, so call around to ask how much it costs. You don't have to see a reptile specialist; any experienced vet should be able to identify the parasites. It's better if you can tell them how much your leo weighs, how big he is, what he eats, etc.
