LOL I hope you are kidding as that really would be a record King. Also try and get a shot that shows his size as he loooks like he could be either 2' or 4' from your pic in other words you cant tell by the pic.

I hope this will clear things up a bit.
Thats a 1.5 liter bottle 7up and a pencil behind it.
Ill try measure him in a few days because i just have him i want to leave him alone as much as possible for now (which is really hard for me haha).

I hate to disagree with you but that snake is not 8' dude. I would say 50" maybe . Get a pic of you holding it up. If its 8' it should have a considerable amount of snake on the floor.

DUDE.................. that's not 8' unless ofcourse your an AGGIE?
HA HA HA

Nice snake, but I have to agree with Keith on this one.
Please get a picture of someone holding the snake.
I have 8 foot YT Cribos and they look much longer than the snake in the pic.
Nice snake though.

oldherper Oct 21, 2003 09:16 AM

My guess would be between 5 1/2 and 6 feet OAL. SVL would probably be closer to 5 feet. No way is it even close to 8 feet. I'll post a pic later of a Yellow Tail Cribo that's a little over 8 feet long...huge difference.

narcie Oct 21, 2003 09:46 AM

could be my meter to feet calculation is wrong =)
Im from the netherlands so we work with meters
From what i guess my snake is close or taller then 2 meter
I thought 2 meter is 8 feet.

2 Meters equals 6.56168 Feet

narcie Oct 21, 2003 12:01 PM

ah now i see why the crazy reactions on 8 haha.

O well i hope to have its exact size in a couple of days.
But im pretty sure its around 6 feet.

Dana K Oct 21, 2003 02:42 PM

Even if he measures ONLY 6' that is one huge Calking.
Congratulations on a big healthy snake!

narcie Oct 21, 2003 03:09 PM

Thank you Dana.
Its also a really friendly one =) nice and quiet animal and it really seems to like getting attention.
Im going to take good care of it =)

This guy was 6'4" exactly . My buddy measured him when he died so its a very accurate measurement.

That is a fantastic Fl king a shame it died.

DeanAlessandrini Oct 21, 2003 08:25 PM

But cals aren't nearly as heavy bodied as brooksi or getula...

She was 15 years old this past summer and I had raised her for her entire life.

She actually laid a clutch of 13 good eggs this year at 15 years old...before meeting a tragic death that I would prefer not to discuss.

Her biggest clutch was 16...all fertile.

You didn't happen to weigh him did you?

I believe when Mike Burns (his owner) took him to the vet for meds he was a little over 7 pounds.

my Cal King, Bandit, going on 6 years old, is a pretty good sized specimen, and a really nice snake. May even be larger than the one shown earlier.

Jim M. Oct 21, 2003 05:35 PM

of Bandit, our family pet.

electricbluescat Oct 21, 2003 11:29 PM

very nice looking california kingsnake. A couple of mine are going to be big. all of mine are 2003 hatchlings and they are already putting some size on them. esp one of the female desert bandeds you can feel how heavy she is and shes only a baby.

He is getting huge as well. He is 3 years old this year and still growing. Not as heavy bodied as your Bandit, but he is getting there!! One eating machine!!

WOW nice big Cal King there ! I dont usually see them that big its very impressive. Here is my "Big Boy" a 5 year old 5 foot Brooksi Kingsnake. He would be bigger but he has been brumated for each of the last 3 years and has been going off feed for a month or 2 for the last couple of summers.

Keith

Jim M. Oct 22, 2003 06:08 PM

and I see based on the pictures of your Brooksi and Easterns that those snakes do appear to get larger and thicker than a Cal King like mine. But I always felt that this guy I have was on the larger size for this type, and after five years or so he seems to still be getting slightly bigger/thicker. Jim
