Carrots and Runny Stool Question?

khandof Oct 21, 2003 05:42 AM

I heard that a diet with carrots on a regular basis could cuase a beardie to have runny stool. Is their any truth to that?

Thanks,

i have had the same problem with my bearded dragon as well, after he was on carrots, he was really having a runny stool, so i took him off it.

I would feed carrots in moderation. They contain a lot of oxalates. Carrots have a ratio of oxalates to calcium that is 17:1. That is considered high and is similar to spinach, which is 19:1.
