HELP! My RES is wounded!

Scubaqueen Oct 21, 2003 11:52 AM

I have a red eared slider that was picked on by another, and as a result has a raw, flaky looking wound on his neck. I've isolated him, and have been basically watching him around the clock (changing his water twice a day) is there anything that I can do for him?

Don't put them back together though as this poor guy is
being terrorized. You can get some Silvadene cream from
the vets office and apply a little on the wound a couple times
a day. It is safe and the turtle can go back in the water
right away as it does not wash off. Otherwise keep doing what
you are doing by keeping the water clean.

keeping the enclosure a few F degrees warmer may help to accelerate the healong process.

The next thing to do is to start planning on where the injured turtle's new home will be...got a big empty tank?

Thank you! He's now looking better (our healing process has started). Thank you so much!
