Hi All,
While checking out a newly found pet store yesterday. I came across a horned toad. He seemed lively enough, bright eyes, firm tail, very attentive, but, he seemed very thin. So, I brought him home. I have many herps but have never even seen a horned toad outside of books. The pet store owner told me to feed him meal worms, but from experience, I question that. I know from reading some years back that they only eat ants. Right now I have him in a 20L tank, a reptisun desert 8.0 uvb, basking light, digital therm (outside the tank)reading 100 on basking side, gradient to 80 on the cool side, childrens washed play sand and a low, wide basking branch. Does he need a water dish or should I be soaking him or misting him? I think he might be a short horned mountain but Im not sure. I have posted 2 pics under chelseasmommy in the horned lizard pics. Could someone take a peek and let me know what he is please? I am just guessing on his setup here folks so please tell me what I should change or add. Where can I purchase ants and will he eat other live foods and where is a good place to get them. I could also use a good care site or two please. Any and all info and suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I am in your capable hands!
Thanks in advance,
Elena

You should search the forum for general questions about ants, watering, and temperature. You will likely find most of the common questions and their answers already on the forum. A good care page that cable_hogue passed along a while ago is at http://hornytoad.freeservers.com/
As far as ants go... Everyone seems to agree that they should be at least a majority of the diet, and can be 100%. You can get them from www.antsalive.com or from www.brockhaven.com/antfarm

You can read a review I made of the two suppliers at Reviews
