New FWC And a question.....

lucy Oct 21, 2003 04:26 PM

She's just great! I finally got one. She's a cb 6ft female and is real tame (for a rear fanged snake anyway) She's a little more brown than the pic shows but I was wondering which ssp. she is. Doesn't really matter much I'll love her no matter what. Oh, was also wondering if a 6ft long by 2ft wide by 3ft tall cage is okay for her? Thanks and am very happy to have joined the rearfanged goup

My pair is a lot lighter, thinner bands anyway. I'm hoping that they get hooked up soon so that I can have some little ones next year. I just had a bit of an "accident" with my male that tried to eat my hand. Chewed on me for about 5min. and got me a decent dose of venom I guess. I've been out of work all week with a sore swollen arm, but I can't blame him. He's got an AWESOME feeding response. I went to get him out of his water bowl, so that I could get them clean water, and he swung around and snagged me. Didn't help that it was feeding day too. Both my male and female are at least 6' long and capable of eating large rats. I love em, even after my experience...as my mom used to say, Could have been worse!

Congratulations, looks like a nice snake. FWCs are great, been working with them for years. Yours looks like Hydrodynastes gigas. Your cage size is great, they're fairly active snakes so she'll appreciate the room. Good luck. Regards Grant.
