so my oppinion is that the climbing space is needed. Although, I am curious to hear what other people say.

I don't know if it is necessary to have a perch but I would imagine it greatly increases their quality of life. I love that she does it by the way! I
I have JCPs and Irians. They love to perch.
Recently I purchased a two-year-old male JCP that obviously hadn't been given a perch. At first he showed no interest in my perch but little by little began to use it. In the beginning he was awkward on it but now seems comfortable.
IMO JCPs and IJs are climbers and should be given stuff to climb on. If you can't because you want to keep a bunch of them in space-saving racks, then so be it. But as for me I will always provide them with perches. And besides, they look cool perched in a nice display cage.
One other thing -- some JCP babies that are reluctant to feed will indeed feed from a perched position.
