Best plants for Wet enviroments

BryanR. Oct 21, 2003 07:26 PM

What are the best plants for a 3/4 water set up in a 29 gallon tank. Its not for arrow frogs, but this forum as the best help when it comes to plants. Currently I have a lots of pothos in there. 1 put in started at 1 end of the tank, grew nearly 3 feet to the other end, rose up another 2 feet along the glass and out of the tank. But yea theres ALOT of pothos. This can be cleared up though, I can take a few out. I also put java moss in there 4 days ago, and hopefuly in a few months it will ahve spreaded very well. What other plants can be used in a gravel substrate with lots of water?

You might want to take a trip to your local tropical fish supply store. Many of the aquatic plants sold for fish tanks work great as long as their roots are kept under water. Anubis species and amazon swords work great with their leaves out of the water and look great. Arrow head vines can also be grown in water as long as their leaves aren't constantly wet. Java moss that is placed on the water's edge will spread across the shoreline to create a bright green carpet. You can also stick to pothos and philodendrons, they grow fast and look fine. Good luck,
