mike d Oct 21, 2003 07:47 PM

well i have been looking into getting a tegu or two again since my last one passed for unknow reasons. but i am having trouble deciding whick to get.

choice number 1
20-22 inch female red tegu very tame 200 plus shipping

Choice 2
Pair of argentine B&W from agama international

Chooice 3
3 red tegus 256 shipped(not sure on the sexes tho waiting for a responce)

All these people say that there animals are in good health and i have seen pic of all of them(except agama since they are outside) and they all seem to have good weight. but i am not sure which deal to go with.

I want to get more than one but i am not sure if i get one know if it will get along with the next one i buy. also if i end up getting only one red tegu do i have to get another red? or could i get like a B&W

All sugestions are welcome

Hi Mike,
I agree with everyone. Water is good, there are some that say not to use a large water dish, because of possible disease. Baths in the bath tub are good. I use a little Betadine in my bath water, then slosh it around until the water turns clear.

Also, the Vitamin C is important. I feed what fruits they will eat. The Red Tegus need and or want more fruit. But if the animal doesn't eat fruit, I grind up Vitamin C tablets and mix the powder in their ground turkey.

Good Luck,
Jim

Ah ha! Finally! Some that uses Vit C tablets! I posted a question a few months ago asking if anyone ever used human Vit C tables. Do you have a certain ratio and tablet size you use? I've been adding reptivite vitamins to my turkey and bonemeal. Although I haven't had any shedding problems out of my red so far (he's just now at 2' long) I've noticed though that shedding problems tend to get worse as they get bigger.
