honduran health and soaking?

toppy Oct 21, 2003 08:19 PM

I have a 3 1/2 foot tricolor honduran male, recently he escaped from has cage due to my forgeting one of his latches and he made his way up into the couch. I knew I could not remove him due to his position so I gave him a day and he came out at dark but his travels through the underside of the couch scraped up his scale pretty good. His scales were dull and wrinkled and he may have even lost a few. he rapidly went into and out of shed and his appearance is about the same. this morning I noticed him in his water bowl soaking ( he never soaks) and now its night and hes still in there. Could he be trying to aleviate some discomfort or aid his scales by doing this? also could I do anything to help? Neosporin works well for small scale problems but I dont want to bath him in it certainly that would not be healthy either - any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks chris
PS his cage is closely watched now that I know he will always be an escape artist at heart.

Prolonged soaking can cause problems. I wouldn't let him soak constantly.
