how come chameleons (at least veileds) keep their food and vegetables in their throat and for how long.........
if my cham is eating his skin, should i let him do this????

Eating skin -- normal, let him do it.
as far as 'throat food' i dont know anything about that. Sometimes they puff up thier throat but i dont know if theres food in there. maybe its the long tongue--lotta tongue to store in there!
They don't store food in their throat. Many lizards have an expandable area in their throat (its not part of the esophagus), but it is more for display. A cham can push its tongue into this expandable area and puff it out to make itself appear bigger.
