Faded Saddles

Hawk Oct 21, 2003 10:01 PM

Hi, just wondering if having the centers (not just the exact center, but kind of a line across the center, from left to right) of the saddles fading to the background colour is common in pure corns, or only typically appears in intergrades/hybrids.

Just wondering because one of my corns exhibits this, and I wanted to know if this is a sign of outcrossing.

Thanks for the input.

I have an A Anery from SMR who's saddles are faded to silver in the center. I think it's a common trait in corns. I've seen several pics of other people's corns with this fading in the center also.

Is there a real chance it could be an intergrade? I'll bet there's people on here that could give you some clearer signs of intergrade, but the fading blotches I think are just a corn thing

Faded saddles are not uncommon at all in corns. That is not a sign of intergrades. Head shape and color/pattern are more of an indicator, and even color/patterns are becoming harder to tell by with all the new morphs coming up. The best bet is to know the stock yours came from and the reputation of the person selling you their offspring.

Well, as for the stock, that is completely up in the air. I bought it as a ghost corn from a pet store in town a couple years ago, so I doubt they could determine it either.
