I got my baby gator in March of this year and he has done very well up until this point. His diet consisted of minnows, crickets, chicken parts, and catfish. At one point he was eating about a dozen minnows a day (3". A couple of months ago he stopped. He ignores the chicken and catfish parts, just kills thew minnows for the fun of it or just ignores them. He seems to have not lost any weight and appears to be very healthy looking, but his growth of about 1.5" to 2" a month has stopped. He never has been the gator to just jump up at food like I have read about or seen on TV. Enclosure and tempature are in guidelines.
I have had caimen but never a gator before, was wondering if it was something to do with his body and geting ti be hibernation time? Should I try to feed him some live mice or something? I have dropped foor in his mouth and he spits it out. I do care for him very much and would appreciate any help. Just grasping at straws here! Thanks in advance
Also is it unusual for him not to be just grabbing food out of my hands?
