Hog Nose Info

dasnakeguy Oct 21, 2003 10:46 PM

I have many snakes but I never had a hog nose and am thinking of getting a western hog nose. Can someone please give me some information on them? Are they docile? Handleable? Size? Problem feeders? The more info the better. Thank you in advance.

Try going to hognose.com - lots of good info on hogs there. If you have anymore questions after reading through there let us know. I just have a couple things to say: very cool snakes! Very handleable, get CB, get a western, and make sure it is an established feeder on unscented mice. They can be difficult, but if it eats UNSCENTED mice they are fairly easy. Some hognose fast for a couple weeks but will almost always come back.

Hey sorry to jump in like this, but can Hognoses cope in Rainforest weather & humidity? Can I also put a pair together in the same housing the whole year around? Do they breed easily?

Ta!

Most hognose species breed pretty easily. Some species do live in humid, rainforest type places. Go to hognose.com for more information on the different species. If you are talking about westerns, they do not like high humidity. It is common for a hognose to eat its cage mate.
