Leopard gecko problem................

cv768 Oct 21, 2003 11:03 PM

I recently aquired 2 charcoal albino leopard geckos...Both of them appear to have a small black spot in the same place....on their underside (belly)...it looks like the black spot is on an organ.

They are both juveniles and they eat but not as vicariously as my other leopard geckos. Most of my geckos will down a cricket at the first sight of it but these 2 albinos just kind of mope around and eat it when they feel like. I don't attribute this to be normal behavior...

They both are plump and appear to be in good health but the black spot and finicky eating habits get me curious...currently they are seperated from the others so I can see if the problem will get worse or better...

If anyone has any insights of this could you please post back...Thanks

It may be that the black spot is the stomach. Based on what you've said about them not being enthusiastic about eating and moping around, you might consider having a vet do a fecal exam. It costs $15 here, and is well worth it. Twice I've gotten geckos from 'reliable' sources ... and had the geckos show positive results from a fecal exam.

Keep them quarantined for 60-90 days even if all seems well (as you are doing) to protect your other animals.

Good luck!

The black spot is a organ i am pretty sure like the liver i think...i see it in baby leo's alot cause they have thiner skin...
And i also got a pair of baby albinos and they do the same thing...my 2 normal phase babys eat like there is no tommorow but the albinos wont even eat till the lights go out... Maybe the light is to much for a albino, or albinos are shy, or might take longer to get use to there new home..
Just my thoughts not sure if any of them are true or not just seems weird, hah sorry not much help there

move the skin on there belies if the spot stays in the same place it is probable an organ if it moves in the direction you move there skin it is probable a skin infection
