Out of the few I've had, only one ever showed any sign of aggression. Though, it wouldn't be fair to call him aggressive, he is rather new to my collection, and he calms down as soon as he is in your hands. As a matter of fact, the "aggression" he shows is just screaming a bit when I lift a hide to get him.

Well sit right down my wicked son
And let me tell you a story
About the boy who fell from glory
And how he was a wicked son

This ain't no holiday
But it always turns out this way
Here I am with my hand

He took his sister from his head
And then painted her on the sheets
And then rolled her up in grass and trees
And they kissed 'till they were dead

This ain't no holiday
But it always turns out this way
Here I am, with my hand

Well sit right down my evil son
And let me tell you a story
About the boy who fell from glory
And how he was a wicked son

This ain't no holiday
But it always turns out this way

I think i just have a special gecko. Once i've upset Nala, she'll try to come at me through the glass. It all has to do with keeping her humid hide moist. She has an aweful time shedding and won't use the hide. So i put papertowels all over the bottom of that side and moistened them. She HATES it, but its what i have to do to make sure the skin comes off. She seems to just lay there when shedding, not like Boo who will rub all over everything to get the skin off.

She's taking food from me so thats good, but if i go near her humid hide or try to wet the paper towels she just freaks.

She's new, isn't she though? Maybe as she gets more comfortable she'll start using a humid hide and what not.

Yes, she and the 6 others i bought are still very new. All of the others have adjusted quite well but she just seems to hate me. Some freaking out i'd expect as i'm huge and must be scary but she'll try to come at me through the glass...I just thought thats a bit much.

Hopefully she'll calm down more! especially before she gets bigger.....the bites don't hurt now lol

I have one blizzard male that is under a year old and his name is Hunter. I named him after the ferocity he displays while chasing crix. He is quite skittish around people, but I think he is getting better as I work with him. I’ve haven’t introduced him to any females yet, so I’m not sure how he will react to them.
I also have 1.1 blizzard hets, they are both around 2-3 years old. The male, Hippo, enjoys being held. He’s around 70 grams and pretty sure of himself. He act just like all my other males when it comes to breeding, so he’s not over aggressive.
The female het is named Bitie. She doesn’t mind people, but she just hates leos. She will bite any gecko that gets too close to her, so it was quite a chore for the Hippo to convince her to breed with him.

I really enjoy the way the blizzards look, they are amazing don’t get me wrong. It’s apparent to me that they are more aggressive and antisocial than all of the other leo morphs I’ve have kept.
I really enjoy the ‘puppy dog’ attitude that some of my leos have. The one’s that seem happy to see you, and will crawl right up your hand to say hello. I plan to use those leos as much as possible in my breeding projects.

I know there aren’t many BBs out there, but I wonder what their attitudes will be like. I’d rather have a $15 friendly, normal as opposed to a $400 nasty, but pretty rare morph, from the pet owners perspective.

Just some of my thoughts and experience with the subject: let me know what you think red and crew.

I agree with you on the wanting to have a gecko thats nice over one thats a better morph.... i love all of them and i'm not saying i'm unhappy with my blizzards at all. It just amazes me now much Nala seems to hate me and anything i do in her tank. I feel bad cause each time she freaks out she gets all uptight and i'm sure the stress isn't a good thing for her.

Each of the geckos are very different; Boo is kinda laid back, Abby is very...cautious is the word, she'll come up to the glass slowly and methodically like she's stalking me or something, only to pop her head up at the last minute as if to say "oh HI its you". Dot is just plain cute with a hint of mischieviousness. Bronx is funny in more ways than one.....he likes to calk his head to one side and look at ya with those puppy dog eyes. Lily gets a demanding look to her, very up front about what she wants (food of course). Zoe and i haven't had much *through the glass time* so i'm working on that. I'd say she's laid back too though. This is why i enjoy them so much.....

I could be over reacting too, but i cant' even get her into my hand....when i had to do the soaking thing to get the unshed skin off i had to pick her up when she was in the hide and she squirmed, bit and screamed when i put her into the bowl.

Oh well, from what everyone has posted i guess it has nothing to do with her morph and more to do with her disposition.

Thanks everyone

i have 3 blizzards and they are no different than any other gecko. my largest and one that eats the most will even eat mealies out of my fingers. i don't see why people would thing they are aggressive.

RedQuake Oct 22, 2003 02:47 PM

I'm only asking because i've heard and read that some are aggressive and i have one that is as well. Out of the two i have only the one is like this and out of the 7 leopard geckos i have only the female blizzard shows this behaviour. I was curious to see how many other people here have blizzards that are like this thats all.
