Is female ackie big enough to breed?

jasper2 Oct 22, 2003 10:23 AM

Hi,
I have a 13 month old female ackie I want to breed with.
she's 42 cm. long (16 cm. SVL) and weighs a 100 grams.

Is that large enough to safely breed with her (male is twice as heavy)?

Thanks

Hy,

refering to the facts in books the female is large and old enough.
But there is another thing you should take care of. There's a great chance that the male is going to literally hunt downthe female. My female is nearly the same size like yours but the male is isn't that much bigger. And she is pretty injured by now. I had to seperate them 'cause the male didn't stop his attacks even when he had mated.
So better let her grow until she's strong enough.

I have made the mistake and I am not happy with it. So be aware.

Regards,

Nakor

Thanks,

I have an extra male that is about the same size as the female, I'll use him the first time and be very careful. I keep them all seperated now anyway, so I have enough extra tanks...
