New member and my Grey Ratsnake

midisland Oct 22, 2003 11:59 AM

Hello all. I've been lurking here for a while, and decided to post. I've been keeping reptiles for over 15 years. This is a pic of one of my first snakes which I purchased about 14 years ago when it was an adult. It has never bitten or struck at me, and always eats (apparently). I've been told it is a Grey rat, but I have never seen one like it. Could it be a cross, or just a nice example of it's species? Thanks for looking!

It isn't a Gray Rat (P.o?. spiloides).

It is either a 100% Elaphe guttata (Great Plains Ratsnake) or possibly a hybrid Great Plains x Gray Rat.

It is more likely to be just a Great Plains Rat.
