The little uros that I bought from Deer Fern Farms are going home tomorrow. I talked with Doug and he wants the uros back to see what's ailing them. He's really worried about the female that has the respiratory problems - he thinks it could be pneumonia. Scarry thought!

I keep doubting myself and I keep thinking that I'm doing something wrong. They are my first uro's, up until now, I've only kept snakes and bearded dragons. But I read up well on how to care for uros. The basking temp is 115 and the cooler side is 85. They are in a 55 gallon long tank with some millet as a substrate (per Doug's advice). I'm feeding them exactly what Doug feeds his. I just don't know where I went wrong. Maybe it's just my bad luck and they got sick regardless of what I did. Oh well, just venting off a little frustration here. I just want my uros healthy.

Holy cow! I didn't know you had two! I thought it was just Houdini! Are both of them sick or just the one?

It sounds to me that you just had bad luck. Are you getting replacements?

Poor little guys...

I got Houdini (male Saharan) at the Puyallup show on Oct. 11. Then I got Maya (female Saharan) last weekend at the Hillsboro show. Both from Doug Dix. Houdini is captive bred and Maya is a wild caught that he has had for over 4 months and was well adjusted.

Doug wants me to send both back to him for an evaluation. Maya is having symptoms of a pneumonia infection and Houdini has been with us for almost 2 weeks and hasn't eaten a thing! I may or may not get them back - depending on what he finds out. With any luck I'll have them both back in a few weeks and they will be healthy. If it's going to take longer, I may get replacements. Depends on what he has in stock.

Thanks Torey! Talk to you soon.
