what is brumate? is it like hibernating b/c i think my little guy semi-hibernated for about 8 months.

What are your temps? How long are your lights (heat and UVB) on for each day? Did he come out at all during those 8 months and eat or drink anything?
Yes, brumation is like hibernation. Except beardies usually only brumate for a month to maybe 4 months. I've heard of longer, but I've never heard of brumating for 8 months before.

i know this isn't the right forum, but i can't get a response in the other forum. how long do mali uromastix brumate for? mines been going for about 3-4months now, and not completly done shedding either. any help would be appreciated.

I think it's similar to the lenght of time a beardie brumates - 1 to 3 months or so. You could try contacting Douglas Dix, owner of www.deerfernfarms.com. His email is Douglasdix@deerfernfarms.com. He has always been very helpful in answering any question I have.

Well, maybe it wasn't brumating, then -- be he laid around constantly, was hardly active, and ate a lot less. His temps are right around 100-105 and his light is on for 14 hours. He's come out of it in the last 2 months, but he was very inactive forever. He was eating about every 3 days, and he has continued that pattern. Now, he's the complete opposite. Every night, he thrashes around his cage like a mad man for a couple of hours!
