It looks like some sort of Pituophis, but it also looks a bit odd. If it's captive-bred, I'd bet that it's a hybrid with both Pituophis and Pantherophis (=Elaphe) parentage. Doesn't look right for pure Pituophis--the scales on the top of the head immediately in front of the eyes, for instance... for Pituophis there should be four, but I only see two in the picture. Two would be typical of Pantherophis, Lampropeltis, and most other genera.

I would say by the head color and markings, it has Elaphe Vulpina (fox snake) influence. Could be a pituophis X Vulpina hybrid.

Looks to be a normal bull/gopher snake to me? I can't see individual scales from the photo...

Not yanking your chain here. If you look where I said (top of the head in front of the eyes. Look at a bull it is where the four bar like scales are)and compared it to a Typical bull, you can't miss it. My screen picks it up fine.

I would bet almost all my money its a mexican bull or mexican bull by some other sort of bull/gopher. The head strongly suggests P. deppei (not sure on which sub) but it does look like it has some other sort of Pituophis in there.
