chewing and impactation PLEASE HELP

skittles15 Oct 22, 2003 07:44 PM

I posted a message a little over a month ago, but this is kind of an update.

We changed the sand to newspaper back in the beginning/middle of september, but there's obviously still sand in his system because his feces contain it

Not only that, but the situation where he chews on his log is still continuing, and it leaves his mouth red and crusted, and today it was almost a blackish color.

Yes, we have been giving him calcium supplements.

Should I seek veteranry help?

I think you should take him to get his mouth looked at. He could be chewing cause their is an infection, abscess or mouth rot going on in there. I suggest to get that looked at ASAP. Is he eating? Can you look in his mouth and see discharge? Pull down the sides of his lips and see if there is any foreign matter or infection. Sides like something is irritating him and causing him to chew. It's not normal for beardies to chew on things except food
