new baby beardie question

mandie Oct 22, 2003 09:19 PM

Our new baby is 6wks old. He eats about 15 crickets a day plus greens. I heard that iceburg lettuce is bad, so I've been giving him romaine lettuce. Someone on another forum told me that Romaine isn"t good either. So, what type of greens can a 6 wk old eat?????

He's about 6 inches long.....

Collard, dandelion, mustard, turnip greens. Also squash, endive, bok choy, escarole.
Berries, melon, papaya....
There's plenty to choose from. Mix it up, they like variety just like we do.

OK THNKS....ALSO HE STANDS ON HIS BACK LEGS AND SCRATCHS AT THE SIDES OF IS TANK. HE DOES THIS ON AND OFF. RIGHT NOW I HAVE HIM IN A 10GAL UNTIL HE GOT BIGGER. IS HE TRYING TO TELL ME HE WANTS MORE ROOM? I HAVE A 33GAL LONG, BUT I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE TOO BIG FOR NOW.

In my opinion, it's caused from nervous energy. Try getting him out of his tank and holding him a bit when he scratches. If possible, make a safe place to run around a bit. I used to let mine run in the bathroom where there are less places to hide.

OK I'LL TRY THAT THANK YOU. WERE DO YOU GET YOUR DANDELOIN FROM?

Christyj Oct 22, 2003 10:53 PM

Occasionally they are at the grocery store. You can get them from your yard if you and your neighbors don't use pesticides/fertilizers.

At that size, you could move him to the bigger tank. I had mine at 8" in a 35 gal tank and she was fine in there.

Also, stop with the all capital letters, it's annoying for others to read. In the cyber world, all caps indicates shouting...so we all feel you are yelling at us LOL. Also, I find it easier to read when text is not in all caps.

Thank you for the info. Sorry about the caps!!lol
