Any comments on which commercial diet food is the best for Testudo hermanni?
If you read down a little, you will find quite a bit of discussion on Mazuri, which is probably the most widely used prepared tortoise diet. Some people swear by it, some people swear about it.
Or search the archives, you'll find lots of opinions.

No you are not completely insane. Everyone needs an outlet. Anyway, I feed my tortoise a diet of greens from turtle cafe: weedy flower mix. Just wondering if anything was out there for when I can't grow during the winter. I know of Mazuri, but what about zoomed, nature zone and the rest of the commerical diet out there? And yes I read the post about Mazuri, that the only one you guys talk about. Anyway, thanks for the replys.
Sorry, can't help you with the other brands. Mazuri was the only kind I could find where a number of people had good results; the others seemed to have mostly negative results.
If you do find some useful information on other brands, I'd be interested to see what it says.

I can't say anything for Mazuri, because I've never used it. But, based on the ingredients and label claims alone for all the other tortoise pellets, I refuse to give them to any animals that come in, and I do not recommend them. Be especially wary of any food that says it's for "all" tortoises. No single food can satisfy the nutritional needs of all varieties of tortoises - a desert animal such as a leopard tortoise will have vastly different dietary needs than a forest animals such as a redfoot.
The only prepared foods for tortoises and box turtles that I can recommend are from http://www.herpnutrition.com/

I know of certain zoos/institutions that swear by Walkabout Farm suppliments and foods.
