Latest addition to my collection

bonnielorraine1 Oct 22, 2003 11:04 PM

Well I finally got around to taking pictures of my latest addition. I got him from the Kammers at the IRBA show along with a female sailfin chameleon. Unfortunately she hasn't been as aggreeable to posing as he has so it will be awhile before I get pics of her up. By the way, he's a juvenile male fischers chameleon

i've never seen a sail fin chameleon. do you have a picture of him? i don't remember seeing fishers at the kammers booth but then we were only looking at the "don juans" they have. we must have spent 30 hour talking to the kammers on sunday morning at the show very nice people huh!? we spent a little less time at amazings booth but they are just as nice and friendly as well!

I don't have a male yet but I did take a picture of the female today. The sailfin female's cage at the show was right in front next to where they were sitting and the fischers cage was at the end of the row where the don juans cage was. They just looked like two tiny black, frightened little chameleons so its not suprising they didn't stand out. I take it the male sambava you are getting is from Don Juan. I just posted some pics of my male Don Juan offspring in the photo gallery and also here, I finally got him to flare up. Just thought you might like to see another Don Juan offspring. I'll post a link of what the male sail fins look like since I dont have one to take pictures yet. Post some pics of your new babies when you get them, I can't wait to see

I am a real Darwinian girl and am always curious as to
why certain animals evolve specific characteristics. Do you know why these have the "Jimmy Durante" facial protrusion?

From what I've read the funky facial appendages serve to help chameleons identify one another as one of their own species, they also are supposedly there to help impress the females. Sorry I couldnt be of more help
