I need an answer too. I've caught a few and put it in the cage and before I knew it my baby ate them both. She loves them.
my 4 yr old jacksons died because he ate house fliess.
if u want to cotinue the tradition of my cham continue
you dont want to know what disgusting and terrible disease non-captive bred houseflies possess.
i recommend cricketranch.com they have captive bred houseflies for sale...
Yes, I agree, you are much better off buying and raising flies. B/c of what flies feed on they are often heavily infested with pasrasites. Personally I would not opt to use them at all.
Here is a site for purchase. Also, there have been other threads on this subject so you can do a search.
Hope this has helped,
lele

i bought a culture this past weekend from the kammers. i have on occasion fed one or 2 "wild" flies. nothing i would consider a meal, more just a light snack. but now that i have a million flies in this container in the frig i'd like to substitute a "cricket day" for something, different...like this house flies or the waxworms i have. if they cannot by themselves be a meal can i 50/50 a day with crickets and flies? varity is suppose to be best for feeding chameleons, so now that i havea varity i like to do what's best.

I think they would be fine for an occasional meal (maybe even frequently) so long as they are gutloaded, and, like crix they will eat many things. Boy, you sure got a thread going! LOL!

Many chams love houseflies. I culture them myself (get pupae or larvae from Grubco...their flies are larger than some), gutload them and release a dozen or so in the cage most days. To keep them gutloaded until the cham gets them I put more gutload or ripe fruit in the cage. My fischeri go crazy for them!
