Yellow Anaconda Pattern Questions

arizonaherper Oct 22, 2003 11:58 PM

I purchased a Yellow Anaconda from a friend who called it Hypo-Melanistic. My understanding of Hypo-M is lack of all black pigment. The snake is almost typically of all 1 year old or so Yellow Ana's, but the black spots, are black outlined but basically yellow, or a light black shadow in the spots, none are actually solid. I was thinking it was more of a faded pattern. prehistoric pets has a similar one for sale right now for $2700 but its slightly lighter, but mine is closer to it, than a typical yellow. I will try to post pics this week.

` I think that lack of all black would be amelanistic. Hypo means reduced, I think. Many Yellow Anacondas have the centers of their saddles fade to yellow, as they age. Some get really striking yellow and black freckling.
