found out my "male" Eastern is a Female

rudedogsurfrat Oct 23, 2003 12:24 AM

Total bummer!
I thought I had a pair.
Tail size really has no relevance at all. I mean the tail was twice as long as the other, but I probed and probed (within reasonable judgement) and NO, he's a she.
Now where do I get a male?LOL

I recently found out that one of my Western "female" was a male! I tried breeding "her" twice last spring and began to wonder after "she" never produced...duh! LOL! What really stinks is that I raised this snake from a baby and never thought twice to probe or pop him. It was sold to me as a female and the tail is short like a female, but it's a male. It just goes to show that you can't be 100% sure of sex just judging by the tail size! Christy
