lateral red striping in hypos

Rick Staub May 29, 2003 04:29 AM

I was just curious if anyone else had observed the development of any red striping down the sides of their hypos. This one is nearly a year old and has developed a nearly complete reddish stripe running down her sides just above (and sometimes fused with) her red side blotches. Unfortunately this pic doesn't capture all the color as it is slightly brighter and sort of looks like it was burned on. The common orange/peach side color is below this band of red.

LITTLE ABOUT HYPOS, BUT I JUST TRADED A MALE HYPO THAT HAD THE SAME STRIPE RUNNING DOWN HIS SIDES. HE WAS A 4-5FT. BREEDER MALE THAT I GOT FROM GULF COAST. ORIGINALLY I HAD SOLD HIM, BUT THE CASH NEVER SHOWED, SO I TRADED HIM TO MY BUDDY CHUCK (CFRB) FOR A SUB-ADULT PERUVIAN.

I have seen very few adult hypos past my own collection. For all I know this red stripe/band thing might be very common. She was born with some red (partly why I kept her) but has certainly developed a lot more in her first year.
