Tragic Day For me.

s_dilks Oct 23, 2003 08:53 AM

Last night was the wost night of my whole herp life. some time in the early afternoon yesterday the heat to my rack system was accidentally turned all the way up. all through the night the heat kept going and i was not able to find out about it until 6 am this morning. I lost 1.1 macklots pythons and 0.2 adult female ball pythons. my spotted pythons made it fine and 1.1 small adult pythons lived. the heat only got the big ones. they had no where to go and died of dehydration ( the heat evaporated all the watter) and heat exposure. i feel terrible. i wish i would have known to stop this tragedy from happening. just though i would share this and remind people to always check your thermostats cause this could always happen....

Oh, I am so sorry for you!! A similar thing happened to someone else on this forum when some children were being shown the snakes, and they turned a heat dial all the way up and it wasn't noticed. It happens, and it's a terrible loss. You have my sympathy.
