dehumidifier draining into indoor pond?

Pott Oct 23, 2003 10:24 AM

I have a 300 gal. indoor pond which evaporates at a prettty good rate.I run a dehumidifier which fills evry day.I was wondering if I could run a drain line directly into pond instead of holding tank in unit which needs to be manually dumped daily. Is the water from the unit clean enough. My pond is filtered with a fluval 403 and is approx. 150 gallons of water and works fine.Help me out on this one if you feel very confident answering. Thanks

Bad idea - The waste water from a dehumidifier is not as pure as you may think and should not be used for drinking/animals. I understand that it has high concentrations of aluminum from the cooling rings.
