CAGES BY DESIGN

rowad Oct 23, 2003 12:03 PM

Greetings people
does anyone know if Cages By Design cages are suitable for tegus? The company said (of course) that they have housed tegus successfully in their cages, but 'm curious as to what everyone here thinks?

I have a 6LX3WX2H from them and I love it! It looks awesome in my room, and it breaks down to be super modular. You might pay a little more, yes, but for the convenience, quality, and looks it is worth it. As for holding up to a Tegu's beating, mine is still a youngin' so in that respect I can't tell. On the other hand, I locked my roommate in the cage, and he couldn't get out, so I doubt my Tegu will be able to. Best of all, they were located 15 minutes from my house. I have asked them to build me some custom enclosures right into my walls if I ever buy a house. I am working on getting pics up on the net, if I could get your email I could send them to you that way.

I had nothing but a bad experience from them. They drilled my holes for my lights in the incorrect spots (even after I faxed them a detailed picture with measurements. I had a damaged panel when it arrived (probably not their fault) I personally do not like the materials used. It may be "fused laminate" but if any water gets into the cracks, it most likely will fall apart. Even after you put it together and seal it (better use a lot of sealant) the panels do not fit tightly and the cage will shift and move. After I got my first cage together, I was starting the second cage, and they had shipped me the wrong pieces to the cage, so I had to wait another week to finish the second cage, and they had to send me stacking pins to stack the cages because they didn't send me those either. I have (2) 6'x3.5'x2.5' cages stacked. When you stack the cages, it's next to impossible to get the bottom cage doors to slide open because there is no support on the front (only the pexiglass doors provide support for weight in the front). Overall, I wasted a lot of money on these cages. I would have been better off paying to go to carpentry school and building them myself.

Just my 2 cents :D
