Tamatave breeding

gregw May 29, 2003 06:49 AM

I have been considering breeding Tamataves but I’ve noticed that there are always plenty of the other morphs but very few Tamataves for sale on any of the Chameleons websites. Is there a reason for this? Are Tamataves more difficult to breed than the other morphs or are they just less desirable?

Greg,

We recently added Tamataves to our breeding colony. To be honest, there are not that many CB Tamataves out there to choose from - so we bought LTC from another breeder. We are importing some wc stock for new bloodlines too.

We have one clutch of eggs incubating and another due to be laid (from our first pair). They are not hard to breed - the same as any other panther we have.

Years back, the "red morph" was a hot item, but in recent years the blue has grown more popular. Now the Ambilobe/Sirama panthers have the spotlight. We love them all - the panthers are a great chameleon - no matter what color!
